Do you find yourself struggling with skin conditions such as rosacea, hyperpigmentation, sun damage, acne scars or other hard-to-treat conditions? There are so many products that promise to provide you with the best results possible; but do they really work? The most efficient treatment would be one that not only aims to correct the surface of your skin, but also looks to correct what’s happening underneath in the dermis. Treatments such as IPL do just that. IPL promotes collagen production and healing in the dermis that allows your skin to not only repair itself, but prevents further damage in the future. Patients that have experienced the wonders of photofacials have reported satisfactory results! We’re pleased to service this treatment to Chicago residents.
About the Treatment
IPL photorejuvenation penetrates the skin with pulses of light. This causes the constriction of vessels and collagen deep in the dermis. Patients report experiencing little to no discomfort with this treatment. It only takes about 20-30 minutes for one IPL session (or more, depending on the treatment area and the patient’s needs), so there’s no need to clear a full day out of your busy schedule. There isn’t much of a recovery period either. Because this is a noninvasive procedure, anesthesia is unnecessary and side effects are mild. It’s common to experience some redness and swelling, but these effects are mild and should go away shortly on their own. For the best results, patients may need multiple treatment sessions; perhaps up to five and spaced three weeks apart.*
Prior to starting the treatment, you should expect to be given protective eye wear- which will shield your eyes from the pulse light. Cool gel may also be applied, which helps minimize any discomfort you may feel. Typically, patients will feel a warm sensation throughout the treatment, as a result of the heat from the light waves. Individual results will vary in each patient.*
A good candidate for IPL would be someone that is looking to rejuvenate their features; whether to smooth fine lines or correct a skin condition. It’s important to know that people with tanned or dark skin sometimes experience a change in pigment after receiving a treatment such as IPL photofacial.
