Laser Hair Removal
Shaving and waxing can be a time consuming and painful hassle. Although a lot of people find that they only have to partake in their hair removal routine once a week or two, those mornings can be long and frustrating. So what’s the solution; shave and wax forever, spending countless amounts of money on razors, shaving cream and waxing appointments or materials? Why not take that money and invest into a long term solution? With laser hair removal, you can go months or even a year without worrying about hair growth! You can throw out the razors and wipe away your tears from waxing. Laser hair removal offers an alternative with little to no discomfort or downtime!*
Here at Ellehomme Holistic Med Spa in Chicago, we provide our patients with the safest treatments performed with the latest, state-of-the-art technology. The perks of laser hair removal are endless! The treatment only takes 30-45 minutes, depending on the area you would like to treat. Because this is a noninvasive treatment, you don’t have to worry about a ton of preparation beforehand. You do, however, have to be mindful of the amount of sun you’re getting in the weeks leading up to your treatment. In addition, you should avoid waxing or plucking prior to your appointment; shaving is fine and actually recommended. You should also make a note to refrain from using any oils, lotions, deodorant or other chemicals on your skin prior to your appointment. Really, all you have to do is shave for the last time.
How Laser Hair Removal Works
The laser expels pulses of heat that essentially burns the hair follicle. This keeps the hair follicle damaged and disables it from growing more hair. Over time, the follicles may heal and begin producing more hair. Due to this, it usually takes multiple sessions for patients to achieve their desired results. On average, a patient may receive 4-6 treatment sessions for the best results, spaced about four weeks apart. Patients report feeling little to no discomfort with laser hair removal other than a warm sensation from the laser. Individual results will vary.*
Following the treatment, you may be asked to avoid direct sunlight on the treated area for a while, or to avoid certain skin care regimens and makeup. You should be able to see results after the first treatment session, but they could be short-lived as multiple sessions are common. It’s also common to experience mild effects such as a slight burning sensation or itching at the treatment site.
